Ring Challenge
In Gretchen Raber's classes at the Art League School, she often hands out some weird random "thing" and challenges each of us to make a particular item out of it. Past challenges have included: making a necklace out of a sheet of window screen, a necklace out of a pencil, earrings out of a piece of gray packing foam, etc. This week's challenge was to make a ring out of 2 popsicle sticks, using all of the popsicle stick material and adding only glue, metal and paint.
Here's what I came up with. I could say it was inspired by all the ruins I saw on my visit to Rome earlier this month, but the truth is it just came together this way. Not fabulous, but it is a ring and it does fit!

Peggy, it does remind me of Rome, and even if you didn't consciously set out to make this, something in your brain certainly did. Is that metal tubing along the top? (sounds like an awesome class)
Shit I thought it was silver. It's beautiful and I love it. You can wear it with your pencil necklace.
Awesome design for silver! I would wear it as a pendant too
That is made from popsicle sticks??? Wow - I can't believe it, it looks like sterling! Very nice.
Silver Sharpie can look a lot like sterling when seen in really bad photography (like mine!)
and yes, the little round things are silver tube beads on end.
I soooo would love to make something similar too this out of silver, but I know better!
Carolyn, by all means, make it! I don't mind at all.
If I did i would need to name it after you dear...
